Well, today we were driving across some pretty baren land, no traffic at all, and things were quite lovely. But as we headed into the "big" city....traffic increased and his patience decreased. Right about 10:30 am (the time of his past lows) he just nearly blew up at the traffic around us. No one could do anything right. And he would go right up to the bumper of a semi before passing them when there was no reason he could not have merged left a long way back. Scared me to death!
So I told him I was ready to drive. He pulled into a gas station and totally blew up over a simple issue with the pump and his credit card. Just as angry as I have ever seen him in my life. I just hate it when he gets this way.
I would so much rather drive than listen to him swear at every other vehicle on the road. And he is not always like this. I think it's just when he is having a bit of a low. Today was quite bad.
As for the incontenence, we had 2 more incidences on this trip, but handled them by just immediately pulling over. Now, when there's no traffic around, that's quite ok. But when there's a ton of other cars going past you? I just wonder when it will be a cop that pulls up next to him while he is relieving himself along the freeway. Yes, he is going to have to see a doctor about that as soon as we get back home. The big question is....will he?

I don't think my husband is diabetic, however he exhibits the exact same uncontrollable anger in the morning. I call it the "hours of hell" between 7:30 - 10:30 a.m. He doesn't get out of bed that way, it takes about 1/2 hour and the mood dramatically changes. He won't eat anything immediately, and after he does, it take about an hour for him to calm down. But yes, he begins to complain about anything and everything. It begins to just get MEAN after a while. I feel like his behavior is abusive because he can't seem to control himself. It's unreasonable, and he refuses to listen to rational talk. Is this a blood sugar thing? I know he should be tested, but for what exactly? He is hurtful with his words, and slams around the house like a mad man, then round about noon all is well....like he's two different people. Does anyone have anything similar?
The lab should just test him for blood sugar levels. It sounds like he could well be having highs and lows. It's important that he not eat anything from midnight until he gets the blood drawn. Nothing at all. And then really, he should have an A1c done as that will give you a better overall level in the event he is having highs and lows throughout the day.
Good luck! I know those "hours of hell" are almost unbearable.

I am a type 1 diabetic, and suffer from anger when my levels are low, although my anger isn't as bad as your husbands.
My diabetes is reasonably well controlled and it still happens to me a few times a year, and I'm rarely aware of it happening before its too late.
I am normally a very soft and gentle character but when my levels are low its like it just explodes from knowhere.
I hate myself after it happens and have even broken my hand punching the floor to vent it.
The best advise I can give is to make sure your husband always has breakfast asap, avoid confrontation and talk to him about his diabetes control in the evening and if he won't listen talk to his doctor/specialist.
